A hot honey mustard sauce can be achieved through one or two methods. First, you can substitute the honey with hot honey Or, my preferred method is to simply add dried cayenne pepper.
While adding hot sauce to the recipe can be tempting the results ranged from wonderful or downright horrendous. It really depended on the type of mustard and the hot sauce combo.

Mayonnaise- It's important to check the ingredient label on your mayonnaise before using it in your recipe.
If you notice that lemon juice is not listed as an ingredient, we highly recommend adding a squeeze of lemon juice to the mayo. This simple addition can make a noticeable difference in the taste and overall quality of your dish. Give it a try and see how it enhances the flavor!
Honey- Your favorite type of honey is fine.
Cayenne Pepper- For a twist try adding a little smoked paprika or chipotle powder.

🍲How to Make Spicy Honey Mustard
Making homemade honey mustard has never been easier! You can simply mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl until well combined - no need for a blender or food processor. Just use a spoon or whisk and a small bowl.
Once the ingredients are well combined you can taste for spice level and adjust as needed. If the sauce is too thick let it sit a room temperature for 10 minutes, it should thin out. If it is still too thick try adding a bit of warm water.

Salad Dressing Instructions
To turn the sauce into a salad dressing, simply mix in a bit of olive oil and apple cider vinegar until you achieve your desired consistency.
🥣 How to Use Spicy Honey Mustard Sauce
Honey mustard is a classic dipping sauce for chicken nuggets, chicken wings, soft pretzels, and other snacks. It makes a great pairing with my Tennessee BBQ sauce.
But you can also try it as a condiment for turkey burgers and hot dogs.
Or use it as a glaze, it is delicious brushed on grilled chicken or salmon. Or even your holiday ham!
But my favorite way to use honey mustard is drizzled on steamed veggies. It is a really simple way to jazz up a basic side dish.
👩🏻🍳Expert Tip
Depending on your preferences, you may want to add other ingredients to your honey mustard sauce. For example, a splash of apple cider vinegar can add some tanginess, while minced garlic or onion powder can enhance the flavor.
🌡️Storing Leftovers
Leftover honey mustard can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for at least 10 days and up to 2 weeks.
Make sure to stir it well before each use, as the ingredients may separate over time. If the honey mustard becomes too thick in the refrigerator, you can add a small amount of water or vinegar to thin it out to your desired consistency.
