🍲How to Make Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

Brown sugar syrup follows the standard ratio of one part water and one part sugar. You can make a rich simple syrup by increases to 2 parts sugar to 1 part water.

This heavy ratio makes a delightful cake syrup.

Start by heating the water and brown sugar over low heat. There is no need to boil the syrup.

Whisk constantly until the sugar completely dissolves.

Cool to room temperature and then transfer to an airtight container or glass bottle for storage.

🥣 How to Use Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

Use this recipe in any coffee drink, hot tea, or iced tea. It is also great in hot apple cider.

Brown sugar pairs well with dark rum, whiskey, and bourbon cocktails.

Drizzle over fruit, cheesecake, or apple tarts. This syrup recipe is also delightful on bread pudding and oatmeal.

The syrup may thicken up over time - simply heat gently on the stove or microwave in 15 second bursts until pourable again before using.

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
    1 cup water, 1 cup brown sugar
  • Cool to room temperature before using in cold drinks. Transfer the simple syrup to a sterilized glass jar or bottle for storage.

Notes

  • Brown sugar simple syrup will last for up to one month when stored properly in the fridge. If it has crystalized or become cloudy throw it out.
